The Lighter Side of Life
Our next meeting will be our Christmas Lunch meeting on Tuesday, December 10 , at the Woodstock Legion, 642 Dundas Street
STARTING AT 11:30 am,
Followed by Lunch at 12 Noon
DO NOT SHOW UP AT 9:30 AM!!
Greetings from our President!
November, a month of remembering. One of my memories as a child was when we visited the Canadian cemetery close to my hometown of Holten in the Netherlands. It made a lasting impression on me seeing all those graves, especially the young age of most of them.
When I now see demonstrations and people yelling, “We want freedom”, I wonder what freedom they are looking for?
I am thankful for the freedoms I have as a Canadian and
when we grumble about our circumstances, we should look at how we compare to most of the world.
Enjoy the month of November and raking of leaves, if you have any. And if not, you can help me remove mine!
Please sign up for our Christmas lunch on Tuesday!

Born and raised in Haldimand County, Jada Dawson is a 22 year old full time student with an extensive background in performing.
Currently in her 5th year at Brock University, Jada is studying in the dual-degree Concurrent Education program with a major in the Dramatic Arts - hopeful of one day becoming a high school teacher.
Outside of her educational pursuit, Jada loves to perform; she has been singing since the age of 2 and performing in theatre since she was 10.
To date, Jada has been in countless Choir Cantatas, Charity Concerts, Musicals and the like - and is thrilled to have been asked to do this year's Christmas Show!
We would like our members to ask any acquaintance of yours to join our meeting.
Every day people retire and look for activities to enjoy, learn and participate in.
Probus is a great group for retirees to socialize and be a part of.
The goal is to increase our membership so we can increase our activities in number and scope.
Please Bring a friend!
Our Probus club continues looking for more members who want to share their Life Stories with everyone - because interesting speakers help to entertain and enlighten their friends - and also attract new members! It is easier than you think, and can be a lot of fun!!!
- Do you have a story about a fascinating project, or place you visited when you were working?
- Did you enjoy a super holiday experience somewhere (in the last 15 years) - that others would like to hear about?
- Do you have a weird or wonderful hobby that keeps you feeling young.

Our November keynote speaker in consideration of Remembrance Day was Scott Gilles, local historian, former museum curator of Norwich Museum & Archives and Ingersoll Cheese & Agricultural Museum.
Scott’s presentation “All the Eyes of Canada Are Upon Us!” recounted the story of Major Edward Cuthbert Norsworthy who inspired his small band of soldiers to hold the line and stem the onslaught of horrors fraught by the German hordes during the opening night of the Second Battle of Ypres.
As December is Christmas lunch no speaker is scheduled
