“CANCELLATION OF GENERAL WOMEN’S PROBUS MEETING
It is with disappointment that the Management Group of Women’s Probus has decided to cancel the General Meetings at Southgate Centre .
We took a number of factors into account: the age demographic of our members, the enclosed character of our meeting space, the proximity of seating and general health concerns.
There are no known cases of COVID19 in Woodstock or Oxford County at this time and we have no doubt that the sanitation and precautions at Southgate Centre are excellent but we know we are a travelling society and the implications of that are real.
We hope that this decision will keep our members safe and healthy and also contribute to the welfare of the larger community.
From our consultations, we learned: that at this stage of the pandemic, slowing transmission of the virus can save lives by preventing or at least lessening the overburdening of our healthcare system; and actions like this cancellation early enough in the transmission process can have a large impact on the long-term outcome.
We hope that our members and families continue to stay healthy and that these unsettling times will soon subside. Please keep calm and keep in contact with those who matter to you in ways that you find appropriate. God bless!”

Smile more often. Fake it until you make it. Play with a kitten or puppy. Play with a baby. Smile when you answer the phone. Change habits...eat with the opposite hand.etc. Go "out of character". Look into a mirror and ask. ."How serious is this?" Tell someone what you laughed about. Decide to delay suffering until tomorrow.
Visualize or draw that one person who is driving you nuts as a clown. Seek out and spend time with "Laughers". Dance naked in front of your pets! Waste some time..type A Behaviour do not know how to do nothing. Lookout for number 1.. And don't step in number 2. It is okay to be silly...sometimes nonsense makes the most sense. Tell a child not to laugh. Pop popcorn with the lid off or build a marshmallow house. Do some positive stroking by appreciating someone. Take your job seriously and yourself lightly. Be willing to laugh at yourself. Encourage a sense of humour in children. Remember that "The heaviest moments require the lightest touch". Practice the art of "Inverse paranoia". Remember as William Makepeace Thackeray said..." The world is good natured to people who are good natured."
